Mood Board

I took images from all over in order to create the Ibiza '89 mood board. It features livelihoods of the UK acid house rave movement: parties, drugs, pirate radio, rave posters, lights, excitement and the law. Full image is featured in the gallery below.

Trend Board

After thoroughly researching what clips are left of raves, I came across 5 trends:

  1. Dungarees

  2. Stripes

  3. Rugby shirts

  4. Smileys

  5. Anoraks

smiley print - ACEEEED!.jpg

Aceeed!

Drawing from the classic "We Call it Acieed!" by D-Mob, this print is inspired by the staple logo of the acid house movement, the smiley face. This print features the word "Aceeed!" above the smileys.

OG

This print is a recreation of a U.K. newspaper's comic commentary on the youth dropping acid. The original comic showcases a figure with a large smiley face handing out "candy" to a boy and girl, only for the mask to slide out in the next strip to show that the figure was actually the devil, as the boy and girl slip into the pits of hell due to taking the drug.

Target Market

18 - 36, women

Ibiza '89 was created for women, but can be universally worn by anyone. The ideal Ibiza '89 consumer is a fan of all kinds of music, but has a special place in their heart for the era of UK rave, house, acid, hardcore, etc. styles of music. This collection was inspired by the clothes ravers used to wear, and the sentiments that they were made up of: love, peace, and sharing good vibes with the people around them. Wear Ibiza '89 to the grocery store picking up milk, on the subway on the way to a party, or even at your local underground club. Ibiza '89 provides movement, comfort, and the right amount of character to transport you back to the golden days of the 90s.

Ibiza '89

Ibiza '89 is a collection of RTW pieces dedicated to the 90s Acid House movement in the UK. Acid and house music would find itself front and center in the mainstream, when 4 British DJ's would travel to Ibiza in 1989, rave all night and take this influence of dance culture back to the UK. The rave movement would start out in small iconic venues, such as Shoom or The Haçienda, and would invite all walks of life to enjoy. Almost instantly, the parties would grow bigger, along with the clothes and drugs. Eventually, the movement would peak around the summer of 1989, deemed the Second Summer of Love, before slowly losing its originality as promoters quickly figured out how to make money off of the raves. Anti-partying laws would be put into place by the Iron Lady, as the true love of raves started to slow down. Though the original raves shut down, acid and house music would have a lasting affect on UK culture, and as well as the rest of the world.
